Hi, I have read this on a dutch newswebsite and found a related link via google:

    http://www.spreadfirefox.com/node/19678

Google will pay webmasters up to $1 per FF download, as long as the Google Toolbar is included. Only US webmasters are allowed to join the program, therefor I am excluded :(
Maybe it's helpfull to you though.

No, since he is wrong, I do not have to agree with davert. Heck even if he was right I don't have to agree with davert.

I myself have had internet access with at least a shell account for 19 years now. The web is not the internet, and usenet has been around for more then that as well, so we had discussion systems etc.

(note: my apologies if this topic has been covered on another thread but I could'nt find anything on it...)

In the past week or so I received an invitation to place a Google "AdSense Referral button" to generate revenue on my site.

I followed the instructions for adding a "referral button": [[para-phrased]]

[[Log in to your AdSense account

    Visit the Referrals tab

If you are a U.S. publisher, select the sub-tab of the product you'd like to refer: AdSense or Firefox plus Google Toolbar. Currently, Firefox referrals are available to U.S. publishers only.

Choose the referral button you'd like to place on your site and copy the code from the box to the left of your selection.

Paste the referral code into the HTML source code of your site. The referral button you've added should begin appearing on your page in moments.]]

The referral button did appear but in 3-days of exposure the appertaining AdSense report shows "no visits" & "no revenue". With some 3000+ impressions a day I just can't believe there hasn't been a single hit with this new Ad program. I'm beginning to wonder if somethings not right about the code I added. Has anyone else heard of or tried the Google "AdSense Referral button" program with any success..?

It seems to me only webmasters are potential web masters would be slightly interested in the button. You see the foxfire button everywhere but not the one to which you refer.

I have had one signup from about ~25000 impressions and about ~50 clicks so far...

I don't know whether that signup is active or not, I don't even know whether that publisher will ever reach $100!

    Thanks for the input Shannon..!

    Greetings Medusa,

    Enjoyed reading your blog...
Looks like you've got it one step ahead of me. Seems like a Google beta with no record of results as far as I can tell. So the "~25000 impressions and about ~50 clicks to get a sign-up sounds pretty slow-going... Sounds like you get no revenue until your sign-up generates $100. in AdSense income yes.?

I'd be very interested to know if you or anyone has or thinks webmasters can ever actually see any revenue stream from this program.

Perhaps I should just abandon this concept and focus on AdSense earnings unless I hear something more positive about the Google Referral button program...

Has anyone here generated any revenue from it.?

    Is it a joke..?

Thanks for appreciating my blog. :)

As for the referrals, it is too early to generate revenue from your signups as they need to reach $100 before you get that much...

I can assure you that nothing from Gooooooooooogle is a joke.

Just signed into my AdSense account to see a new tab. "Referrals"

It seems if somebody signs up for AdSense through one of your tabs, you earn some cash. Basically if they sign up and earn $100.00, you also get $100.00.

You also get $1.00 for anybody who downloads and installs Firefox.

Its a shame they won't give you a text link option - that graphic is a bit annoying really - hard to fit into text :D

I agree! I've always found better results with text links. I've been trained to ignore anything with a graphic.

I thought it would be good at first, but then after a couple of days of having the links up, I realized that I was limiting my revenue potential by having the adsense button rather than a text link block. The text links generate much more than an adsense button would IMHO.

Read the TOS, you're allowed three ad blocks. One text links block can be added over and above the three blocks. So if you have to pick and choose your ad strategy wisely.

    Surely you mean 5 blocks - 3 text, 1 adlink and a search :)

I didn't realise this block counted as extra? I missed that part. :(

The referral buttons don't count as regular "ad units", the TOS states

    So, you are allowed:

    - 3 ad units
    - 1 link unit
    - 2 search boxes
    - 1 AdSense referral link
    - 1 Firefox referral link

So , you can now really load up you page with ads from AdSense!

Well, now I just re-read the ToS and could not find any limitations on the nuber of ad units anywhere. I've searched the ToS for "ad unit" and "ad units" and cannot find any restrictions on the numbers now.... did they change the ToS recently (like in the last two weeks?)
