Nope nothing. My guess is that you can't use a Google Javascript snippet within another Google Javascript snippet. Propably something to prevent people from using Adsense as a default for Adsense. Unfortunately doesn't allow the referral either.

I agree that they should have more options for the referral buttons. I'm using the firefox program. The large buttons are odd shapes (with the exception of the 468 banner) and the small buttons are hard to read.

I'll give them a whirl anyway. I had decent success promoting the SpreadFirefox links for the last year. This time we get paid! =)

There was some talk early in this thread about Firefox. I'm a life long Netscape user so I have never bothered to try Firefox. But now I'd like to download it and experiment with it.

Can someone tell me the latest version and the best download site?

    You won't be dissapointed ;)

    Main download site: http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

Stable release: 1.0.7 <-- This is the one I am using now
Latest Release Candidate: 1.5 RC1 <-- Includes these new features: http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbird/releases/1.5.html

Firefox is better than Netscape in my opinion. I have been using 1.5 since it was released, and have had no problems. And actually with tab issues and my browser coming to a crawl, it fixed a problem I was having with 1.0.7

As for hard to read ads, I think the Chitika text on their referral banners is about equally as bad. It comes across as blurry, especially on the smaller ads.

What version of Netscape are you currently using? Everything from version 6 on is based on Mozilla (which is what Firefox is).

Edit: It'll probably be more informative to read the wikipedia entry on Netscape

Actually when firefox first hit 1.0, Google and Mozilla reached a deal that google would be set as the default search engine for firefox. This is probably part of the payment on googles end for that.

Netscape 7.2. I Like the browser but the real reason I've always used it is for the email client. I tried Outlook Express one time and couldn't stand it for more than 2 or 3 days. In my opinion Netscape email is light yrears ahead.

In that case, you might want to try Thunderbird. It's Mozilla's email client.

I've been using the firefox referral program through G for most of today and I have my first gripe. My stats seems to be WAY skewed due to the impressions of the referral image links. I was hoping it would be tracked separately, but it appears to be bundled into all the other stats.

Oh well. Can't complain too much, it is a great way to both promote a good product and make a little money doing it...

Where do I find that. I downloaded Firefox, but it simply opens my Netscape email, which is fine but no big advantage over Netscape.

If you're happy with Netscape's mail client, then I say stick with it.

However, if you're curious about the Mozilla suite, then it's at http://www.mozilla.org/products/mozilla1.x/

You're right, how could I be so stupid? Google clearly hate the rest of the world and have no desire to promote this with international users. How could I be so stupid? They just couldn't be bothered. That's it.

Following through on the AdSense bubble column, I noted this on the site:

"Joel Comm is Dr. AdSense, an Internet entrepreneur who has been online for more than 20 years."

Interesting since the Internet hasn't been around that long, unless he means he was on BITNet, Fidonet, BBS systems, etc. I've been around that long myself for what it's worth. However I have an authentic doctorate...
