Post comments in others' blog. Make a controversy comment so that people will be interested on you and your business.
post to social networking sites.
put your site link in all your forum signatures.
possibly write for others and give a link from there site to your's(Content Marketing).

I have a tech site where i have only 2 ad blocks and 60% of my contents are auto generated still i get a 3% ctr and 8.5 ECPM. I bet if you write all your post and optimize your ad blocks well then you will reach at 5% CTR and $15.00 ECPM. Don't put your time in finding the mfa sites and filter them, you will loose time instead write more in that time. Don't forget that they have some catchy words for which people lure to click on it.

(Content and Link Building will help in getting more traffic) + more CTR = more money

 

I just modified the top menu text link ad background. And rest all same.

You are not going to see a big difference. You don't take advices well anyway these advices doesn't guarantee you in getting more money but it helped me getting more to my bank account. I have increased CTR for many of my clients' sites and I can make your CTR at least 5% but I learned from this thread that free advices are never carried well. Better to be off and do that for my clients.

You are telling about the 160X600 ad placement.
I had that one there before I replaced that with 336*250.
Now if I put the 160*600 then it will not show all ads as we can see 3 google text ads on page.
I never underestimated ur advice.
But i neglected the one about referral link

 

Why don't you use simple templates?

 

Cause I like modifying existing themes and make it according to my choice and look bit professional.

 

So, I advice you to make them simple. I would make them to be "The article and the Adsense ads" only. The trick is to make the reader has no choice other than clicking the ads.

 

I agree to shand0. The more options you give to your users the less money you make through adsense. You don't have justified stuffs above your page fold. A person lands at your page will be confused as he/she will see your popular articles and all. You should only show your article with some ads and your logo.

 

I'd say its ok as per your page views..
Try to get more traffic and you will see a hike in earnings.

 

Change color of 336x280 block to 'Black' in blog sidebar

I did not understand the concept of making the sidebar usint black. I think making the units inside the post black will improve the clicks to a great extent. But not sure if that wil violate google's TOS. Can some one through some lite on that?

I would suggest you try 336*280, 160*600, 200*90 adsense formats

 

I hv experimented with 160*600 and I do not receive any clicks on thet. In the past i kept tht in the sidebar for amonth and got only 2-3 clicks on that.
