Adsense earning too low on a high traffic site. May I know why?

I have a high traffic, alexa rank:20k site but my adsense income is only $5/month. I saw that people are earning $400-500 with this type of site, may I know what's the reason behind this? How can I increase my earnings?

It's depend on a lot of thing. First maybe your keyword is not a good PPC keyword. Second, you didn't get many click. And last maybe your visitor come from a country that doesn't want to click on ad

I am agree with dungdenvn. There is lots of factors which determine adsense earning such as visitors come from, Ads placement on sites, subject of websites, your visitors must be real and click should not generated fake etc.

Without seeing the site in question it's very hard for anyone to offer some real good advice.

Depends on your niche. If it isn't competitive in AdWords then you aren't going to see high click rates.

Though perhaps it is something you might be doing wrong. If you have images on your website, make sure to use the alt tags and look for some high keywords and target them.

normally,4000IP with 7000 page impressions should get $12-15/day with 1% CRT for english site.but if your click rate is too low or most of your traffic came from developing contries, then you will get low earning accordingly.

Must be bad placement or non related ads. Can't see another reason why its that low. We can't help you without a example (link to your site or screenshot).

High Alexa rank is not a reflection of high traffic. It merely means that you get a fair deal of surfers from India whose clicks are next to worthless. No advertiser will want to spend more than a penny on a visitor from India a click form whom is usually a waste of a penny anyway. Don't worry about Alexa rank. Surfers advertisers would be willing to pay for don't use Alexa toolbar.

How many clicks do you get each day? There are many factors to consider such as keywords, location of your visitors, etc.

Your keyword density would be important to bring the right ads to your website. Another thing is your web visitors might not be targeted. And the clickthrough rate for your niche might be very low. there are many factors to it.

Sometimes click bank process is very low. You should contact with your provider.

I think, it is due to bad placement. If you share your site here, then only any one can suggest you better.

I think you have not placed google ads at accurate place. Formating and format of ads also matters. So please choose a better location and format of ads so that the visitors will attract your ads and then they may click on thme.

too low you can try new position of adsense. If it still end in too low income, i recommend you to try adsense alternative. You can google with keyword "Adsese alternative" to find the best one for your site!
