I consistently average around $50 a day from Adsense. This week I am getting about a 15-20% traffic surge from StumbleUpon. At the same time my Adsense revenues have dropped about 30%. I don't mean eCPM. I'm talking actual revenue. The PPC is much lower. Has anyone else experienced this? Any explanation?
I had experienced the same effect and I can understand why. Social bookmarking traffic isn't organic and it isn't convert well for publishers
It may be worth the small loss for around a week probs. You will end up getting some of those stumble viewers as returners.
I notice this all the time, every time my page impressions increase my earnings stay very similar. Even if I get an extra 50,000 impressions in a day, the ecpm just drops down.
I've noticed this too. I think part of it is on google. They don't mind an increase of a few percent a day but if you get a huge increase they probably just assume that it's fake traffic and reduce the ecpm to level out the total cash you make for that day to your average.
Looking back over the last month I averaged $48.72 each Monday. Yesterday my traffic spikes and I made $35.10. traffic is up today as well and Adsense is down again.
I always see people saying digg and stumbleupon traffic kill their ctr and cpc, but I've had the opposite with my sites.
Adsense doesn't seem to care where the surge come from (it could be from Google itself) but epcm seems to lag a traffic increase. If the traffic stays consistant epcm will follow. I think Adsense must have a built in alorithm to discount clicks duriing traffic spikes.
