well it's easy, you don't own the right to the videos of football matches or highlights, simple as that.

I thought so too, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
I have seen a dozen other sites which publish similar content and still have adsense running on them.

That doesn't mean anything, how many have been banned already? You don't know. And when they'll be banned eventually you won't know too.
Also some (big) sites actually have somehow the right to publish those videos. At least they can provide such proof of authorization when adsense ask for it.

In order to participate in Google AdSense, publishers websites and application information must satisfy the following guidelines:

    - Your website must be your own top-level domain (www.example.com and not www.example.com/mysite).
    - You must provide accurate personal information with your application that matches the information on your domain registration.
    - Your website must contain substantial, original content.
    - Your site must comply with Google AdSense program policies.

JamesColin is right. It would be much better if you provide quality content. If you do post videos or pictures, one way or the other someone owes copyrights to it. It would be like you are stealing someone else's property and post it on your site. Try to change your website if Google won't accept it. Make another website and do not commit same mistakes.

Yes its true, but they may be the people who got Adsense before publishing that content. If you need adsense you should have a unique content on your site.
Once you got it, you can post those videos on them.

My idea is just do a blog with unique content and apply for adsense from that gmail.

Not, good. You have a copyrighted content in your site. You dont have the rights to publish, air, or distributed those materials.

Those other sites likely got into AdSense by applying with a different site first.
