AdSense - does it even work anymore?

I mean, advertisements by AdSense is just too common that people seems to neglect it for several reasons like they've seen the same ad for about 3127824452 times in 234834573573984735 many sites. Everybody is using Adsense saying it's the best paying Ad program but I'm starting to doubt it.

I mean come on, when was the last time you were interested by a google ad and clicked it? If you're using Firefox then I doubt that you even see them... I think AdSense is just overrated and it's not really worth the hype.

Do you have other reasons to believe that AdSense is good or even proof that it works?

I have AdSense set-up in my site but I'm thinking of the opportunity cost of having it, I mean, won't commission ads work and pay better? or AdBrite? or plain old Advertise here campaign?

AdSense is getting from bad to worse.
But they have nothing to worry about because there is NO competition.

AdBrite, Bidvertiser? Is that a competition or just a bad joke?

P.S.: AdToll is paying sh*t too.

I watched a video tutorial about adsense its called "adsense decoded" dont remember the dude's name but he said adbrite is really good, i gave it a try and its very bad. the worst thing about them is their support. On their website they say "Blah blah blah support , will write back in 24 hours" but then they send you an email that they'll write back in 48 hours, and in reality they reply to you with some nonsense "after" 48 hours. You ask one thing and they'll answer another. Seems like they just use the "template" emails and just forward it to you.

I just hate the tech support of any company.

i already tried adbrite, bidvertiser, widgetbucks, kontera and chitika, still adsense is the best for my site. I have learned that some webmasters earn more from widgetbucks than adsense, so it's better i guess to try what is best for your site.

For my opinion AdSense is better than AdBrite and still lot of people uses AdWords.
Sites with high traffic can sell banners and links but probably no-one will bought banner spot on brand new site. So on small sites webmasters can make some cash using AdSense

It all depends on the type of site ypu have. For some of my sites I only make about 10 cents per click, for other sites it's a lot more.

    Of course it is.

What I'm asking is if this factor was constant/negligible then what other alternatives do we have on AdSense?

there are no good competition for adsense. and the only thing that would ever provide some decent competition is if microsoft and yahoo teamed up.... then we might be seeing some decent profits again

You will not find a better ads program than AdSense. If people didn't make money with it, people wouldn't use it. It works more than ever if you use it right. Blending in to the content in a way that does not offend your visitors but makes sure they see them and have a chance to click on them is key. Quality content first, BIG money pulling ads second. If you are not delivering true quality to your visitors, you WILL by all means fail long term. :)

I have post here. read it
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=706892

It pays for each pageview, not unique IPs. Also you are allowed to have more than 1 ad on the same page. So you can effectively multiply your CPM earnings. I'm earning $0.80 per 1000 visitors. :)

well, try ypn, the reason that adsense has no competetion is because there are many people goes around and claim that they earn big money with it
