I thought Adsense was supposed to display ads that are related to the content on the website? I have several Blogger blogs where adsense is displaying totally unrelated ads. For example, I have a ladies guide to cigars, and adsense is displaying ads for credit cards. Is there a way to adjust settings so that ads are related to the content?
You better read adsense tos, before criticising adsense, learn their rules on content. I'm not sure they allow tabacco related products but who cares, really?
James nailed it. Google does not allow tobacco related content and they have no ads for it likewisw with alcohol, drugs and sex. Even writing about medical terms containing sexual keywords will not return ads.
Listed Talen, I'm with u but I've seen many websites with Tobacco and other cigars niche which displaying Adsense ads in their websites!?
I've seen many warez download sites with adsense on it too. They can do it as long as adsense doesn't ban them, which happens randomly and certainly not immediatly.
Adsense ads show based on its referrer. If you want to make the ads displays related to your content, you should use "section targeting" technique (don't worry, this is a legal technique). Just google it, friend.
if adsense cant find ads related to your content then adsense shows ads based on user behaviour .. for example if the user is logged in to google account or using google chrome then it adsense can display ads that have the most chance of getting user attention based on his previous behaviour
I think adsense doesn't support adult content, alcoholic, tabaco like site, check adsense rules and regulation carefully, else adsense id may canceled if reported...
If they don't have tobacco customers, they can not show ads for them. Also, if you don't have much content it can go way ward as well.
I agree that ads will display according to the content of the blogs or websites, but not alone the content of the page. Ads are displaying according to the search results in google, for example if you search about the credit card, it will get stored in urs google history and ads will display according to it. Hope you understand!
