On line seven with the channel it displays the date: //2007-05-30: and channel name What does google use that info for? Is there any reason to update code that has dates from years ago with a newer date?
The date is normally the creation date of the channel. It can be used by you to help work out what type of ad display is working best for your websites when you do performance testing.
I don't think that you have to update the code. I never did it yet. I pasted only new code if I changed the channel. So don't worry about that.
No! it's the creation date of the AdSense code containing this channel, I just re-checked... Google doesn't need this comment, it's for you.
Just seems odd. I can check the modification dates of files for that information. And its not like I can sort the reports by pages added since xx-xx-xxxx leaving out older dates.
i suppose its relivant in terms thats when the code was created. And yes you can get reports on ad-channels, and select only data from that date to current date. Pierce
No what I mean is if I have 100 pages on a channel made over 10 days I cannot get results for today on only pages created after xx-xx-xxxx date. For that I would need 100 channels at which point its irrelevant.
