what is your CTR rate, I have been getting about 1.8 to 2.0%, is that considered good or bad or average? thanks
You're lucky, I get something like 0.0 to 0.1%, but vast numbers of impressions makes up for it. What's your URL?
Critters is right, it is against the Terms and Conditions; Also as mhdoc said, it depends on several things.
Ok, so giving figures on CTR may be against TOS, how about giving tips to increase it... ? My CTR has decreased in time, as I went on adding pages and information to my website. I'd like to read some tips on how to increase it legally... Anyone ?
Relevancy - I see a lot of sites where the ads are totally irrelevant. This is becuase pages are not optimised and google has not been able to correct determine the nature of the page. You go to any mortgage site and the ads are always very relevant, as with any travel site. You should not be optimising your pages for adsense but this would also apply to SEO - you want every page to have a very specific topic.
Nice one I wish I could tell you my CTR, its so low.. you'd all laugh at me (and maybe give me rep points to make me feel better (just kidding)). I don't think its phyisically possible to go any lower (and still be a number) than my CTR. Oh well. Josh
Josh, Lay out your smiley page like www.icons4aim.com and you should get a high single digit CTR. Make your ads an easier and bigger target.
I'll take a look. I really need to work on the smiley page, I just put it up a while back.. and haven't worked on driving traffic to it, or improving it at all. Josh
Thanks. Yesterday I've started to apply some of the techniques learned on this forum and the CTR increased by 10% instantly... Not a big change, yet noticeable. Specifically I moved the ads to be more visible and also played a bit with the PHP random and include so that I might alternate randomly the color of the ads in order to figure out which ones perform best.
