The image ad top right here on DP from SEO Tools has a 'Close' button which actually works (not a trick to make you click). The little cross on blue square background actually closes the ad and makes you stay on DP. Is that a new feature? What's the point?
Try it. It's in this thread too (not just saying it for the clicks ) it really makes the ad disappear. Maybe it works with Site targeting for Google to monitor relevancy? If too many people get sick of it and close it, the campaign might get dropped? That could be a motive...
I tried it after you said... Weird though huh. I wonder what use it has. Is it only on the graphic ads?
i first saw this on the phpbb site on an image ad, they will probably use it for thier stats (check how many actually close the ad)
I haven't looked at the AdWords side of the story at all yet. But I suspect it won't be an option, just a quality monitoring mechanism across the board.
Has anyone seen this type of advert? (View attachment for picture) This is the only one of its kind that I have seen. Notice the X in the top right corner, if you click it, the advert goes away and a white box is left. It is definatly a google advert as it links to; http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com..... Code (markup): Has anyone seen this advert or and other adverts with an X in the top right? I hope this hasn't been posted already, I searched and found nothing.
Yeah, I was just going to post about it. It doesn't have "Ads by Google" under it either. That's the only one I've seen so far.
It was noticed before on this forum as well. Some new format that allows you to click the ad away. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=20551
