I've got roughly 10 sites publishing google ads, CTRs range from 0.50% to 10-15%. I'm making about 1$ a day currently from all sites together and hope to get my first adsense check next month. I noticed that my hits per day never really change (about 500-1000 page views per day). But my CTR varies a lot day to day. Recently I've noticed that on some days I'll receive no clicks at all even though traffic is the same. (Today is one of those days). So far today I have received 400 impressions over all of my sites (so says google). One site received 323 impressions, and the other 75 or so impressions were spread out among 4-5 other sites. The site with 323 impressions has a CTR of 0.91% (when looking at all history for this domain's past click history.) I should have received around 3 clicks for that site today. But i have not received any clicks today. I was wondering if anyone else has noticed that on some days there are simply no clicks or a lot less clicks when impressions for that day were the same as they were for the previous history? Update: I'm now up to 500 impressions for the day. 345 for the site mentioned previously, and now 25 impressions on a site which normally has an all time 7% CTR.. Still no clicks today.. Update: Now up to 550 impressions, still no clicks.. Is anyone else having issues like this?
Sometimes clicks are not displayed in real time. If you have also images ads , and google is feeding you 3rd party ads, those click are only added at the end of the day. I also noticed that on weekends the quality of ads is rather low as the big spenders stop their campaign and my ctr drops significantly.
As mentioned, weekend ads are not alsways of good quality. So, the CTR may drop. Also, CTR drops if same ads are shown over a long time. I don't believe Google is defrauding the publishers. Bye the way, 10 to 15% click thorugh is extremely good. You just need to get more traffic to make a killing
I guess that makes sense. I wouldn't have thought that the publishers would stop/pause their ads on the weekend. I've never seen any statistics on it, but wouldn't more people be online in the weekend? I would think that the amount of advertisers would go up. Unless perhaps they're targeting the 9-5 m-f junkies who don't work and surf the net all day at their corporate jobs. I'll make sure to keep a closer eye on the weekends in specific. It's a shame I cant get crazy with the google statistics break downs within their back-end. (create custom graphs, etc) It's in a very competitive keyword field, I'm not sure how much traffic I will be able to drive without millions of backlinks. But yes, that's the idea... I've seen a few people talking about 30K checks from google or whatever, and I'd like to build a house so I figured it was worth trying. So far I've made more from text link sales but we shall see. I think if all of those people bragging about it were really making 30K a month then they wouldn't be online trying to sell an e-book for 3$... Whatever.. Update: At the close of the day that i created this thread, I ended up with 600 impressions, 0 clicks, and 0.01$ earning. 437 hits to the site which normally carries a 0.93% CTR, The rest of the hits spread among 8 sites with average CTRs ranging from 1% to 15%. I don't see how anyone could make 1K$ a month let alone 30K$ with this kind of BS.
"Recently I've noticed that on some days I'll receive no clicks at all even though traffic is the same. (Today is one of those days)." Yesterday, I too saw 80% less earnings than normal, but this was nothing but a delay, today, I checked yesterday earning and everything seems to be ok. I guess it was just a delay in adsense stats
So yesterday (sunday) I made the most i've ever made on a single day from adsense 2.45 with 1 single click bringing in 1.30.. Then today on monday, 0 clicks.. Last month I made 0.90-1.25$ every day with adsense and it was going very steady. Seems that there is no predictability anymore. (btw, my traffic is still the same, hasnt changed in several months, my goal was to make 1.00$ a day) I'm still thinking there is something fishy going on here..
Adsense is not predictable, not really a dependable business model for publishers. It is not something where you can make a ton of money. Its just for some change cash, thats all. If you have a really huge website, with hundreds of thousands of users, generating thousands of pages of new content everyday (Think DP ), then you can surely make a lot of money via adsense. Otherwise, you're better off devising some other way of monetising your websites.
