I would like to talk about adsense boost. What is that one thing or two that makes a difference? We all blog or make pages for months and suddenly, after 3-4 months we see income, big increase in earnings. Then after month or two goes down 50% then up again??? Why?
It's what is known as Smart-Pricing. From Google (you = the advertisers) How smart pricing works We are constantly analyzing data across our network, and if our data shows that a click is less likely to turn into business results (e.g. online sale, registration, phone call, newsletter sign-up), we may reduce the price you pay for that click. You may notice a reduction in the cost of clicks from content sites. We take into account many factors such as what keywords or concepts triggered the ad, as well as the type of site on which the ad was served. For example, a click on an ad for digital cameras on a web page about photography tips may be worth less than a click on the same ad appearing next to a review of digital cameras. Google saves you time and hassle by estimating the value of clicks and adjusting prices on an ongoing basis. With improved smart pricing, you should automatically get greater value for clicks from ad impressions across our network, all with no change in how you bid.
I find it very strange and almost annoying that some days you can get more clicks than ever and have your lowest income. But, it all averages out in the end. Enjoy the process and don't bother worrying about the small things.
Make sure you have a passion for the high paying keyword or you will never want to update the content or do anything to the site. Plus there is a lot of competition with higher paying keywords. Just pick a topic that interests you, don't worry about making money with adsense. Just always have fresh new content and lots of it. Provide your users what they came to your site for, the obviously didn't come to click on your ads in the first place. So just write about something that interests you, have good content and then hopefully you start to get traffic (You have to do something about the traffic though, it doesn't just come) and you will get return visitors because they can read in your content that you are passionate about what your writing about and it shows, by providing better content overall. Then with the good traffic, good ad placement/optimization you will start to make money from adsense.
That's it in a nutshell. Too many people throw up MFA sites that might get a few pennies a week. Why waste that effort. Why not focus your energy and attention on one or two quality sites with real information, sprinkled with some adsense ads that really compliment your content. Get baklinks, write articles, do the whole social bookmarking thing etc, and get traffic, and you'll get natural clicks. I am running a thread here http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1213477#post10530159 on another way of attracting targeted traffic via our ad delivery system that may also interest you
