Very interesting thread. Even I was in a dilemma.

If i remove all the blocked sites, *only* ads related to "blogs" turn up on my site which is annoying.

How long to you leave it when you start your site (or remove the blocks) to decide that you must start blocking ads. I ask because I run 5 blogs, none have ever suffered blog adverts. Two are on blogspot the rest on thier own domain. Some of them to start with have blog adverts, but less than a week those blog ads went away and very relevant adverts start to appear. Sometimes this happens in the first day.

Now this can't all be down the the subject matter because they're all on very different topics. I guess the more the adsense bot learns about your site, the more chance you have of getting the relevant ads you want.

The pages have been there for months now. THe problem is, my URL has the term blog in it. So, somehow it ends up showing blog related ads. Its not for all the pages, but for quite a lot of them.

All the pages are decently indexed by google.

Hmm, not sure. I do notice that in the source of your page the word blog is mentioned in a lot of commented out code (your old title and header). I wouldn't think that it would make too much difference, otherwise pages could be manipulated the other way. But that's all I see there.

I guess your pages cover a lot of different topics, so maybe it is hard for the bot to work out what to display, so assumes the blog ads are best. Perhaps you're better off doing what you're doing then :)

Yup. I think the bot ignores the comments.

But the permalinks are pretty much focused (ie, the individual pages). But somehow its shows up irrelavent ads.

Yup. :) Will clear off all the filters for a couple of days as adviced in the adsense blog. If the earnings are lower, then will turn on the filters.

    Thanks for your inputs.
