If the background image has been specifically placed for the ad then it is against TOS ans is not allowed
so using such things like those: http://www.problogger.net/archives/2006/02/17/designer-adsense-ads/ isn't legal?
adsense TOS does say that using any technique that brings undue attention to the adsense ad is against TOS. i guess google decides this kind of situation on a case by case basis.
I did, 2-3 weeks ago. NEVER got any reply, so i removed them from my website just in case. I find Google pathetic ! After all, ISN'T THAT WE ALL DO WITH ADSENSE ? Trying to deceive the visitors to click ? Isn't that the purpose ? Aren't we all after that, using various tricks ?
I got a reply from them. Here's what they say: Thanks for your email. Publishers may not implement Google ads in a manner that disguises the ads in any way, for instance, by formatting neighboring content to look similar to the ads, or by making ads look like games or forum posts. Additionally, publishers may not attempt to associate specific images with the individual ads appearing on their sites. Such an implementation may confuse users who assume that the image is directly related to the advertiser's offerings. For additional questions, I'd encourage you to visit the AdSense Help Center ( http://www.google.com/adsense_help ) or the official AdSense blog ( http://adsense.blogspot.com?utm_source=txft ). Alternatively, feel free to post your question on the AdSense Help Forum ( http://groups.google.com/group/adsense-help?utm_source=txft ). Sincerely, Aruna The Google AdSense Team They don't specifically say that you CAN'T use a background image. But I'd use something plain. Like something I have running here.
