    Hi All,
I am toatally new to Adsense world. I have a website known as www.maintectraining.com. It is already up and running for the past few years. Now, I was thinking if there is any advantage of using Google adsense is this site. More importantly I was wondering if there is an disadvantage in using Google Adsense in my website

The most important dis-advantage I can think of is:
When people visit my website, they may get carried away with the ads rather than going through my website (which I dont want to happen). Please let me know how serious is my concern and if there are any other DISADVANTAGES

I don't think so. But there will be a small ratio of people will navigate to other sites. But If the content of your site is very good and it is not changing the mind to check other websites then the visitors will stay with your site

BTW I have another query. Somewhere I read:
"Clearly the largest negative impact the AdSense programme can have on you is through Google closing your accounts. Most of the time this happens because of so called 'click fraud', which means somebody would be producing artificial clicks on your page.

The earning AdSense brings you are by no means constant. In fact, they're not even close to that. Anything you do to your site could end up being a big mistake costing you a great deal of money. It's that kind of pressure that has a negative impact on you.

I understand the meaning of "click fraud" but what I dont understand is, what are the implications of Google closing my account ? Why has this article mentioned that it could cost me a "great deal of money" in case of any mistakes ???
I feel scary about this sentence...:(

They close the Google account; they cannot close your general account, as far as I know and as far as logic goes. But I am a newbie too, so maybe other pple should know better.

If you made $500 in a month and before sending you the check, google closes your account, then the money as google says, goes back to advertisers. You loose $500...

    Bye :)

I've learned the hard way to safeguard my AdSense against possible suspension. It's imperative to protect it from ban and sabotage if you've planned to earn from AdSense for a long time.

Back on your original question on the disadvantage of AdSense, IMO it'll depend on your initial focus of making the site. If it's primarily focus is to sell something you've ie. ebook, it may be counter productive to include AdSense to allow the clicks to leak out. If the site is intended for AdSense, all the best if there's a click :)

    Cheers, William

AdSense can bring supplementary income to any site, including yours, if there is decent and original content, and if your traffic levels are good.

The only disadvantage to including ads on a business site (offering business services) is the fact that you may lose 'potential' customers who view the ads as 'unprofessional', and then surf for a competitors website.

Regarding closing accounts: If you do not click your own ads (EVER) and follow the AdSense TOS, your account will not get closed. You just have to make sure you are diligent in following the rules.

I would have to agree with alejandro in the sense that if your primary business is selling products to other businesses, it may come across as unprofessional to post ads on your website. Imagine going to a major business website and seeing google ads.. it would come across as a bit strange IMO

While it is true that you can not control what some people will do with your ads, just be proactive. When you notice suspicious numbers coming in on your account, send the AdSense team an email regarding it. That easily combats suspicious behaviour.
