Do you think these days having adsense advertising on your website improves its quality or makes it look less trustworthy? Try to give objective opinions without thinking about $$$'s Take part in the poll above ____________________________________________________
And there you have the very reason why people associate sites with Adsense on them with utter garbage.
My blog do looks like an MFA site with AdSense, especially after I added a link unit under my header navigation. But what to do, it really generate income to me.
To be fair, I think Netjobs means that they don't care how adsense makes the site look because all they are interested in is the earnings rather than the actual quality of content.
I voted for less trustworty, but I don't think "trustworthy" is the best description. I think "Do you think Adsense makes your site look messier" is better. I've always avoided any types of ads on my sites but I decided to give Adsense a try a couple of months ago. I'm doing better than I expected, but I'm still undecided as to if I'll stay in the program or not.
I don't have a problem with Adsense on my main site. People visit it to find accommodation or property in the area so the AS ads are a service. I do have misgivings about AS on my animal site though. The site supports rescue and though I am running AS, I think the ads do detract from that message - especially when they are for some crappy online puppy mill. Just got to keep my eye on it and block those advertisers.
I think a site with adsense looks more professional than a the same site without AdSense. But the adds needs to be blended nice to fit the content. Otherwise its crap.
the fact that the ads are targeted makes it work - i tried adbrite and got ads for ring tones, dating, etc.
I think it does look a bit less professional, however, AdSense is still far more professional then most banner-ads.
I think it does make the site look a bit less professional - and in my field (spirituality) it also takes away a bit of trust people have in it. After all, spirituality is supposed to be free (well it is, but I do make money off it as well). As long as the ads aren't unethical though, I think the result isn't so bad I should stop. Also the ads seem to get better. There were a few pages where google just didn't have anything other than ads for stuff I felt was unethical, so on those pages I left the ads off. But a few months later I tried again on a similar page and it was fine.
I think it depends on subject and layout of site. There are sites that look freakish with AdSense banners, but I enjoy the way AdSense looks on my blogs. Besides of this, adsense is great bringing rich and relevant advertisement for many types of traffic, except of gambling, pharmacy and some other keyword groups that better sell with other PPCs.
If you have real business website adsense will make it look unprofessional. And indeed placing adsense on such site is unprofessional. If you selling something why would you want to lose visitors and direct them to your competitors by displaying their ads? Instead you want them to buy your own products (much better business than with adsense). I have adsense only on pages hidden deep within my site, these are either pages with free stuff or containing upgrades/tune-ups for customers who already purchased my products, so no need to worry I'll lose the customer.
I feel that if you don't paste huge ads in the top of the page before or in the middle of the content, adsense adds quality to a site. But the way people are dieing for more clicks these days and putting giant ads in the middle of their webpages, it really hurts the quality of the website. Quality websites are done by people who put their site before their ads.
Yep. I have no reason to work on my website unless only to earn on adsense, thats my story and I love to make money online and particularly on adsense and I hope doing quite well so for.. If you wanna to service to the people for free and not expecting any income from your site and you can do it, thats your story... We know people how much struggling to make some money on adsense and I believe its another way of making money online..
Don't think adsense makes a site less trustworty. If your site is not about webmasters, with a good ad integration, your visitors won't even realise that they are ads. Even if they do, they will be about the same topic that your site is. So they need it, thats the purpose of google adsense. Targeted visitors . So no I don't think it makes a site look less trustworty, even makes it better since they are about the same topic..
In other words you have MFA site. I think the OP was talking about real sites where ads are only addition to their content, not vice-versa where content is just addition to the ads.
Well, this will definitely depend on the type of site you have and how you make use of the ads. Taken to a certain degree Adsense ads can add to the value of the site and look good without being obtrusive. However if you are running an eCommerce site selling products I would definitely consider not having Adsense on it. To me that looks unprofessional and from a customer's point of view I will think twice before buying from you. I'll always be asking myself "Why does he need ad income, if he sells products?"
