I think lots of you guys focus on niche phrases for keywords rather than messing with some big seo company on competitive words. But what about targeting "high" (let's say "good") paying keywords then? An example: If I use a misspelling phrase of some good paying keyword and the original keyword has 1.000 hits a day (overture) but my niche term (misspelling) only 50. Of course now I can check ads for my niche keywords with this sandbox tool and compare the ads to results given by overture's bid tool for the original keyword for example. Let's assume I really get a few ads which also show up on the original keyword. Do the advertisers really spend the same amount on ads displayed on my niche site? On the one hand I think the advertisers also bid on my niche phrases, but only for few cents (compared to few bucks on the original). On the other hand the content on my niche site is still "comparable" to those with original keywords and Adsense will show "good" ads. So how is this niche thing working? Maybe one should optimize a site for the niche phrase and then use google tags (begin and end) for adsense related content to get "good" ads?
When I first got started in Online Marketing I was spending a lot of time on Google advertising and I felt a need for a tool that would generate lots of misspellings - the idea being that you generate hundreds or thousands of keyword misspellings and then you dump them into Adwords and see which ones get traffic - dump the rest - repeat. A friend of mine who is a programmer wrote a program called Keywords Finder which we sold en masse. We sell fewer of these nowadays - but income is income. Funny, I just talked about this the other day. Targeting misspelled keywords is a tried-and-true strategy.
