Is there a reason to take the SEARCH tab out of the tabs?? If they search for another product and click within there, you still get paid I think...
Don't knock the affiliate link. This is exactly how affiliates are meant to act (and why ad companies are smart to offer 2 teir programs. In fact he went further than he had to in explicitly pointing out that me was making an earn out of referals.
Everyone is talking about how great this is, but I placed it on a few sites and average around $1 to $1.15 per click. Others I know also get less than a $1.00 I also contacted them by phone (recording) and email and have not yet received a response. Not impressed with the support (nothing like Yahoo! or Vibrant). My sites are well established and plenty of traffic, perhaps I am targeting the wrong area. Mine was software. Is there a better area, hardware, health, etc? Anyone have any tips or is $1.00 standard? Thanks!
Chitika has experience outage... as stated in their message when I log on.... I do believe my stats are terribly wrong... as I can't believe I only earned just over a dollar in 24 hours over three site... something is very, very wrong with their system of accounting... anyone else have the same problem... Or... is it that I can't add ads over more than one site... ? Am I missing something.... thanks......
Looks like they had some sort of outtage as stated in their newsblurb when you login. This does suck, but hopefully they get it ironed out. Oh, and I wasn't knocking the referrel link, I found it clever... and he didn't add the notice that he was making referrels from that link until AFTER I posted something...heh.... but who cares! He was right, Chitika kicks major butt so far. I would suggest that people enter into Chitika as if it were in BETA, because it seems like they're going through trial and error with some things. We'll report back on how they perform.
I'm liking Chitika alot. I'm getting about the same as I got with AdSense. This is unaudited revenue, but I'm sure my audited revenue will be same because I don't get any China or India traffic.
well, yirmumah... u may try this : ch_non_contextual = 1; ch_nosearch = 1; var ch_queries = new Array('keyword', 'keyword'); var ch_selected=Math.floor((Math.random()*ch_queries.length)); ch_query = ch_queries[ch_selected]; credit: thanx LcF.
I read in another thread that you have to disable search as well as contextual ads in order to use it with Adsense.
Did someone confirm that you have to disable the search tab?? That doesnt make much sense if you set it to non-contextual.
Here's the post: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=359597&postcount=6 He references an email from Google.
Google doesn't accept any other seaech. If you don't have google search you can keep the search function though.
I went through the process of adding Chitika to my site and have received a little bit more than what I normally received with adsense. I set mine to be non-contextual and got slightly more than what I got with Adsense. I have not heard much about the other two parts of their service, I believe it is the "real context" and "blog context". I think that Real context is more like adsense and I have applied for both. Has anybody used the Real context and what have your stats been? Was it worth it? What about Blog Context also? I would like to know if you have had good results with this.
Can't wait til they fully open their affiliate program. I really like this concept and would love to promote it.
Yeah-- thats what I meant-- I dont use google search, so I should be fine having the search function on the ads.
Thanks for the tip, I had signed up for Chitika a while back, but finally put the code on my site the other day after reading the glowing responses to this thread. My only problem is that when I use "iPod" as the keyword, the ad that is shows is for a pink iPod mini (instead of the nano or regular iPod). Hopefully that will change soon.
Thanks, mizt, yesterday I put in "iPod nano" and all that showed was an armband with no photo, today the actual item appears!
