Ok so I created my first blog and posted my first two articles. I even got adsense installed and serving ads all in the matter of a couple hours :)

    Now my next questions ...

Will my current domain of http://improvegasmileage.blogspot.com be indexed in G or do I have to get a real domain before I can be listed in search results?

I have about 20 more articles written that I am going to post on this blog but I dont know if I should do one every few days or should I just put them all up at once. any ideas?

I have a rectangular ad block at the top of the page and thats all but I havent found much info on placement of ads in blogs so I dont know if this is a good spot or not.

    Thanks for all the help!!

Your current domain is just fine. Any domain/subdomain can be indexed.

Just get some links pointing to it, for the crawlers to find it.

Your choice. But you should stick to posting one per day or so. That way you will have fresh content each day.

It's all about experimenting. Try it out. And watch your income fluctuation. When you reached a layout that works, stop there.

Thanks for the quick reply! I will just stick with the free domain for now until I figure some of this stuff out and actually make a couple bucks at it.

Yes, Google loves to index blogs as long as there are some good links pointing to them from other related blogs or related web sites. I've written a daily blog on blogspot for almost a year now and Google is pretty quick at picking up new content and listing it in their results.

P.S. Just like any other site don't expect much from Google the first six months the blog is live. While Google says there isn't a "sandbox" effect with new domains or subdomains, I tend to disagree with them based on experence.

I've never seen a sandbox effect on any website I've ever created. I recently started a new blog with one and only one inbound link and that site is already in the top 10 on Google searches for particular things I write about (VERY niche, though).

I started my first 2 blogs on blogspot back in November/December of 05. What a mistake that was -- both had a PR of 6 within 1 PR update. When I transitioned to my new server, I didn't take the right steps to recapture that PR. Now when people search my niches, they find my old blogs (which were taken over by other people, oops). What a mistake!

I host my own sites now and it is dirt cheap. Because I run a multitude of sites for my businesses (not AdSense monetized) it only costs about $1 per month per site for my AdSense blogs -- including yearly domain registration. Go ahead and plunk down $20 for any of the cheap yearly hosting programs and you'll be much happier.
