Google adwords users have the option of turning off the content network option thus leaving their ads 100% on google search result pages. Should the quality of the landing page then not shoot to 100% value lowering the cost paid per click a little? I know an adwords publisher can chose his keywords but google ignores them to a certain degree by evaluating landing pages. Google is chosing it as relevant by returning the ad as a search result. Also, should the cost of such ads be lower since none of the proceeds are going to a 3rd party website publisher? The ads are run directly within googles search results. Google receives a portion of the proceeds as the middle man but do they receive an extra portion as the website owner too when the ads run on search only? I'm sure these questions have been asked but I can't find the answers. I do find that the cost for the ad seems the same as does the payout even if only on the search network. Has anyone researched this with any sort of repeatable results? I expected to find both a lower cost and a higher ctr with search only but in researching I'm only finding a higher ctr.
