OK, if anyones read my past posts, then you will already know im an Affiliate marketer using the bum marketing method (no cash invested in what im doing) well, i would personally say im not doing very good at it, though i have recently upped my sales to about 1 sale every 9 days (which hey, great for a bit of extra cash, but obviously id like it to get better) well ive been using Hubpages right now (looking into moving into others) and i would like to ask a question right there: any suggestions on article sites that are liked by google/yahoo/msn/searchlive? anyone know which search engine likes what site? ive been getting told to use ezinearticles lately. anyways, thats not my main question, my main question is this: i recently setup adsense on my hubpages, so i see a bit (VERY bit.) of commission when someone clicks through and buys a product... well... something is REALLy ticking me off. since ive done it, ive had 3 days without sales, and 3 days with at least 1 sale. (6 days total) ss is following: http://img441.imageshack.us/my.php?image=adsense1lv1.jpg this DOES mean that people are clicking through, AND purcahsing a product, correct? now, i was happy when i first saw some instant progress with that, was thinking "awesome, i can get some extra change" but its starting to show a trend of literally earning me a adsense sale EVERY OTHER DAY. and since the adsesnse ads are relevant to my article, i realized "hey, wait, instead of them buying MY offer, they are clicking out into google ads, and THEN buying" aka, im getting 10 cents a day instead of 20 dollars... wtf did i do wrong? how the HELL is my adsense making more than my article? should i replace the adsens ads with look-a-like image links that go to another related product (but not hte same as my article) and hope to sucker them in? or what is going on? wtf do i do about this >.<
If you are selling a product then you need to remove the ads period. They will just lead customers away from your site which is never good. It's basically like they see what you have to offer, but may like the "pitch" in one of your ads a lot better then just click and buy THEIR product. You are forcing competition on yourself with adsense or any other ad network.
mm, yeah i see waht your saying would anyone be willing to take a moment and look at my article? cause i dont quite grasp how my page that gets me 1 sale every 9 days or so, winds up getting me 1 sell every other day via adsense...i mean if they arent buyers in the first place (for my product) wtf am i doing wrong that they are willing to click to adsense and buy...know waht i mean? edit* if anyone has experience in hubpages, and could tell me how the hell to get adsense off, please let me know, digging around i can NOT for the love of me get the google adsense off (its a built in function of hubpages, lets you sign up, get approved, and it auto-loads the adsense ads into your hub pages)
Well, the thing with buyers online is catching them in the best moment. By that I mean when a buyer first starts searching they often visit many sites, researching, reading, etc. So you want to catch them in the moment that they are finally ready to make the purchase. How do you catch them in that moment? Pretty much luck of the draw or your pitch is good enough to capture them. You're not necessarily doing anything wrong because you are making sales. You may just want to focus on getting more traffic. So if you are making a sale every 2,000 visitors then you just want to make it 16,000 visitors in 9 days...so you make 8 sales. See what I'm saying? Anyway, I have no idea about hubpages so good luck with that!
i know exactly what your talking about pharcyded, update: i managed to get the adsense off (damn they sure make it easy to put it on though -.-) and ive replaced the most obvious adsense link with my own set of "Relative links" aka my own affilliate links to other related products ^ ^;; as for the traffic, im gettin groughly 50 views a day atm, 1 sell every 9 days, so thats 9x50 = 3500 = 1 sale, ive already decided to try and increase traffic and that is a result (i orignally got 1 sell after 6 months, once i noticed that it got me into the marketing thing cause i actually saw cash from it, since then its gone into 1 sell a month, to one sell every 12 days, and now 1 sell every 9 days, i been tinkering and learning alot over the last 2 months) the thing is, i must be hitting them at the right time, because they are clicking my adsens and making a purchase, the thing is they are going away from the product that gives me 30 bucks, into the products that give me 10 cents -.- and i cant figure out why. they wernt buying my product that fast before, but i put adsense on and bamo... get what i mean?
Glad you finally got the ads off...lol. I would see what happens without adsense. It could have just been a fluke that the sells got better during your adsense run. You progressed into what you are doing now, so I think that could be a great possibility. Plus, now your site is probably ranking better for the keywords too in search engines. That should help traffic and convert some sales quicker. I guess only time will tell though! Making money online is always an experiment until you find something that works like you want it too.
after doing some thinking, staring at my article, and taking in the advice you guys have given, i realized something: i myself am (and im not trying to brag) considered an advanced computer user, A+ certified, know the ins and outs, how to find information when i need it, etc etc. i realized, that i had not kept a simple bit of fact in mind, that the average computer user is not nearly as proficient or willing to learn to find what you want, and thus i took my questions into my family. i had my mom run through my article without telling her what my goal was, and asked her to roleplay as someone looking for something like my product. the end result had me change a few things around (placement really) and sure enough, less than 24 hours have passed and ive gained a sell 100% due to my change. ill update in a few days with the end results, but so far it looks good thanks everyone that helped out
Awesome man! That's a good way to work things out. I do the same thing! We do often forget how the average user functions on the internet...it's easy to do when you have been using it for over 10 years. Congrats though on your achievement. Good luck and keep us posted!
ok, this is becoming very exciting, just came back from the pool hall and my total revenue for the 18th is: (drum roll please) $84.34usd now, keep in mind i went from 4 months with 3 sales (sales from xmas season), to 1 sale a month, to 1 sell every 12 days, 1 sell every 9 days, and now, 3 sells in ONE day. im seriously stoked about this and will be investing this money into more online projects (time to spend money to make money!) i just made more cash today online, than i did in my 8 hour shift at work... thats a HUGE milestone to me...and hte 100 dollar day is right around the corner now... thanks everyone
hey man just a heads up, if I were you I'd post to ezinearticles. They are the grand-daddy of article marketing and they get way more traffic than hubpages, check it out at alexa.com. Good luck!
yeah ive been looking into them but i havnt done it yet due to being worried about them not accepting my articles, i know i cant linkd irectly to my affiliate link, would i be able to link to hubpages that has a link to my affiliate link?
Hi buddy, Use EzineArticles. It is excellent for BUM Marketing. Target long tail keywords. Pm me for information about how to research for long tail keywords as I am new to the forum and cannot share links here. I have many articles ranked within Top 10 in Google's search results for dozens of keywords. You can definitely do better if you are willing to make it a habit to submit at least 1 or 2 articles per day. Depending on where the Adsense ads are, they can distract your prospects from clicking through the product link.
Yep I have the same Dilema, deciding if Im losing affiliate sales by putting adsense or other ppc ads on my site. I know alot of people are still searching and will probably just click links on my site then search again but if I have adsense at least I get something for them clicking and leaving my site.. Its just something you gotta decide on a site by site basis.
ok noobie question here: wtf is a "Long tail keyword" exactly? i keep hearing the term but have no idea what it is
long tail means instead of going for "laptop", you go with "sony vaio laptop vgn" these kinds of keywords are more targeted and might give you the advantage over other people who are competing in the same niche. The average internet user usually goes for specific keywords. And regarding your other posts about adsense, as far as I can see, you are thinking that the money you're getting from adsense is commission. In fact, that's only pay per click, and not neccessarily that the user has bought smth. So, with adsense you get paid only when someone clicks on the ad, no matter if he/she buys smth or not. However, as the previous posts say, if you're selling smth of your own then adsense might drive buyers away from your site. I see you preffer to use bum marketing, but maybe you should give a try to pay per click as well. It might speed up your sales. MSN adcenter has a promo offer valid till Feb 29, and it gives out $50 in free targeted clicks for US only. They also charge you a $5 activation fee.
Hexinator got it right about the definition of Long tails. But there is a whole wealth of knowledge about Long tails. I have pmed you on where to find the detailed information.
hey thanks for clearing the adsense thing up, yes i thought it was commission based...now i know and yeah, im going to be going into investing money, though atm im only doing bum marketing (im about to switch jobs, and its going to cut my paycheck in half for about 2 months, which means i gotta save teh monies right now) and cursader, thanks for the info, im going to read it right now
