I hope in the future we will not have to wait the end of a video advertisment in order to visit a website just like TV , Hum.... Video ads is a bad bad idea IMO
Please tell me you're joking! I don't want to see video ads on the sites I visit. I want to see their content. Ads should complement, not be overbearing (which I think video would be)
irka and sarahk, you're missing the part about "click-to-play". The videos won't play until the user clicks them to start.
i don't think they will be too mainstream, due to their expense. Ie product launches etc so not too worried. However if they take ages to load that is going to be a hassle on websites (ie lots) that use adsense because its so quick to load (as well as other things).
Hi everyone -- The answers to most of your questions, and an example of what video ads will look like, can be found at: http://adsense.blogspot.com/2006/05/introducing-video-ads.html Hope that helps! ASA
Looks nice. Are we going to get paid for someone clicking on the play button or on the ad itself? If it's on the ad only advertisers will get some free exposure.
Video ads can be either site-targeted (i.e., paid on a CPM basis) or contextually targeted (paid on a CPC basis). For contextually targeted video ads, you'll be paid for user clicks to the advertiser's landing page-- accessible through either display URL at the bottom of the ad or by clicking on the video itself during play.
I think these will be a big hit and may have a higher CTR initially, for the novelty if nothing else. And if people produce compelling commercials to run in these units the CTR may not plunge. If they run/start/play as well as the google video product, the user experience should also be pretty good. time will tell. fingers crossed...
