Has anyone else noticed that some AdSense ads today have started to show a Google logo (both text and/or balls) and some other subtile graphics in the background of images? Seems to be every 5th or so ad right now. At least ones within digitalpoint.com... You can see what they look like over at the SE Round Table blog. - Shawn
Interesting upgrade to the ads. It makes them more attractive without being over done. None have shown up yet on any of my sites though.
Maybe it's just me , but i think that they lower the contrast between the ad text and the background and are slightly annoying b/c they make the ad harder to read. It's a good idea to make the ads more visually attractive, but they should not put a logo across the ad text...
Personally, I think they should make the background image something you can specify... but that will never happen because you will have people that abuse it. - Shawn
I think it will be a help. For the most part, people "trust" Google. It will be very interesting to see how they images effect CTR. You're right - no way we will ever be able to specify images. The minute they open that door, you'll have all kinds of "interesting" pictures in ads.
I guess Google gave up on this idea. It surely would have been included in the new design and tracking tools if they intended to implement it. However I guess it might still be added.
Really, it must be those damn California servers. Back in the east, particularly conservative Canada, we never get any of that hot stuff
