adsense ads about google services-- google gets a free ride?

Discussion in 'AdSense' started by thesickearth, Feb 24, 2011.

My statcounter shows 7 or 8 clicks from 6 people today-- all ads but one were about Chrome, and other google propaganda. 0 clicks on my adsense. All 6 were first-time visitors, from google search and from one small forum. I noticed similar adsense behavious before. My question is simple. WTF?

Sounds like coincidence imo. Not surprising when Google is such a huge, trustworthy name these days.

yea google gets a lot of free rides, that's why they are so profitable. I think you should quit using it.

Thats a coincidence. It will not happen everytime. Google mostly displays ads on your niche but when your niche dont have much competative ads they will show such a ads.

btw there is an update-- indian guy from the last time came in again yesterday and clicked, no credit

an hour ago--- another first time visitor from holland, came from search on google.com, spent 7 mins and 46 seconds on the site, clicked--- well i guess it was just another click-spammer--- who am i to judge google.

PS does anyone know how to block out google's own advertisements on my adsense? It seems to be impossible to me.

so my CTR for March was 0.05%. I got 1 click registered and I got a whole penny for it. About 12 to 15 clicks that I saw on statcounter weren't registered.
Yesterday, 2 clicks from a first time visitor that came from Google.lu ( second visit total from that small country), none were registered of course. Google analytics didnt see that visitor also.

well normally my CTR is (was) 0.7-1%. If I got credited for those clicks, my CTR for March would be 0.8% or so. But I wasn't so it's 0.05%. With 1 penny credited for 1 click.

Your CTR is way too low. It is the CTR of an average forum with average ad placement.
Your CPC is also way too low, it looks like the CPC of free flash games or free desktop wallpapers. So perhaps you have a forum about free flash games and/or free desktop wallpapers?

No I have a blog about rare commodity statistics. My average ( yet so rare ) clicks were quite decent. Nearly 90% of my traffic comes from google and its pawns.
