I saw this ad on my site, and ironic it may seem, but it doesn't give any information / sales pitch about itself & reveals absolutely nothing about what it is advertising, YET simply because of these factors - it is driving me crazy. I honestly think it's genius. Keep them curious to get those visitors? I don't think it's very smart for Adword users though since after all shouldn't they be after targeted traffic? With this type of ad, they are sure to get those clicks but not everyone of them will be targeted visits. Anyway, I like it. It's really making me curious, & if those weren't my ads, I would've clicked them already. Ad I'm referring to is:
No need to click simply right click and copy link location. Then paste in url box and view/copy they actual destination url from the string, curiosity over!
It's an add for google leads. I checked the html. It shows their ID as well but I think they messed up somewhere. Should be clickable.
This is a good strategy to get traffic but as you mentioned the traffic might be not so "targeted". However, i believed that the advertiser is paying very low CPC for this ads and therefore s/he not really care whether it is targeted but most important is the traffic
