I have 3 ads in the following order: Top: Leaderboard Middle: Large Box Foot: 468x60 Ads in the leaderboard get ~ .20 per click Ads in the other 2 get ~ .07 per click Now I get about 40-50X more clicks in the middle large box then the leader board. If I remove the leaderboard, will those higher paying ads display in the middle ad space and pay at about the same rate as the leaderboard ads were? i.e. the middle box now becomes the first adsense ad on the page - will it display the higher paying ads? (sorry if this question has been asked in the past - I tried searching...) Thanks!
It's not certain that they will get the same amount but I hope that if you remove the leaderboard your other links will get higher rates that could be near, above, or below to the leaderboard ones.
Why don't you just try doing it yourself? and post back your findings in 3 days? The best way to optimize adsense is to experiment, I think it's said by google.
I actually am trying it out (as of last night), I was just wondering if anyone else had done some research yet - so I'm still interested if other have experimented on this... Thanks for your replies!
Well, in my own testing it didn't appear to propagate down 'as much'. Without the top Leaderboard, my PPC was about .08.
