Adsense ad in forum header okay?

    for sure it is OK, look at DP where adsense is even higher up than the header

    If you put the ad after the content or in between I think it will give you more click and it will be noticed by the maximum visitor. The proof for my statement that here in DP as the ad unit is placed at the top head right corner so click are very less. Final decision with you.
