To clear things up a bit Melfan, Overture will be no more, Yahoo is dropping the name Overture. What they are talking about is a new program Yahoo will introduce soon that will compete directly with ADSENSE, they did announce a few months ago that they were going to jump in the same game with Google Adsense and offer a contextual network for "small sites" just like Google is now with Adsense.
Yahoo is working on a PPC service. It may be out in a few months or so. Stay tnued for furthur developments.
I have had Adsense for about a week. I wanted to make sure my site was in compliance. I have an Adsense banner on the welcome page that basically explains the intent of the site. According to the TOS it states that you cannot have it on your welcome page.. (I'm really not trying to generate hits) but could someone tell me if my site is compliant?? I am terrified I will lose my Adsense account after reading this post. I also have Adsense on the same page as some Amazon ads.. Is this a violation of the TOS. And to make matters worse... the first couple of days I clicked on my own a couple times to see if the links were working. I noticed in the report I was not paid for the clicks the first 3 days.. I think there were 3-4 clicks from me. Did google just not pay me because they were my own clicks?? Should I send them an email or should I be OK?? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
It really pays to read their TOS before putting it on your site. It is ok to have amazon ads and google ads on the same page. it is NOT ok to click on your own ads at all, google knows they are from you and won't pay you for them. i'm not sure what you mean about adsense banner to explain the intent of the site, but if the TOS says you can't have it, don't put it there.
I checked the TOS and welcome page is given as an example of a non-content containing page. Explaining the intent of the page should be considered content even if it is on a welcome page...right?
I get the impression that what Google is talking about are the "click here to enter my site" which is preculded by some ridiculous, time wasting flash intro. That or a site that has nothing other than an "entrance" page or some kind that completley lacks content. For complete clarification I would contact someone(at)google(dot)(com)
you can have a link to other sites on your account, that's not an issue. You simply can't have any other contextual ads on your site. amazon, etc are fine. the site looked compliant to me
thanks for checking it out Wendy... I am probably being paranoid... after reading this post.. who wouldn't be. I really think for google to cancel your account though, you would have to be doing something pretty evident that appeared to them as cheating... As long as your not repeat clicking on links or telling other people to click link.. I think everyone should be fine!
It is more complicated then that, but you need to make sure you don't click on your links at all. It really is a big no no. But the site does look fine. I would suggest that you change the adsense colors though, so the background looks the same as your navigation bar. It would blend a bit better. Other then that, nice job
You can have up to 3, although you may find that your EPC (earnings per click) go down with more banners, usually due to the fact that you are displaying lower paying ads.
Mostly because of the speculation this thread contains. Google's TOS regarding AdSense are pretty clear if you take the time to read them thoroughly. Agreed. Hiding text on your pages with the express intent to trigger higher paying ads which would not otherwise have appeared on your website is a surefire way to get your account disabled. (Joshril - I had a quick look at your site. Could you please open new pages in the same window and not a new one every link that's clicked. Sure way to tick your visitors off )
Does anybody now if google will enable the account if it was previously disabled, or if you can reapply. Anybody has any idea how that works... Thank You. www.cafedelbalkan.com/english/html/index.php
Although in very rare cases and only in the very early days of Adsense when the technology was being trialed, I have heard of disabled accounts being reinstated, this was only done after google checked the data thoroughly and were satisfied that #1 no fraudulent clicks had taken place, #2 no sneaky tricks had been employed to trigger ads, #3 the web site(s) met google's policies, #4 the webmaster was entirely innocent of any wrongdoing. Please note that Google check this themselves on their own initiative with every Adsense account that is disabled. Bombarding Google with emails does not help the situation. If your Adsense account is disabled, there is usually a good reason. Generally, it is failure to meet https://www.google.com/adsense/policies
