Very nice forum. You should at least put them inline like how DP has it.

I prefer to add my ads at the beginning of a forum, that way members are used to them...

adding ads later on when all your members are accustomed to not having ads may piss a good majority of them off

I think you should keep them.
They'll should pay for your forums hosting not you, unless you want to be a sponsor to your own forums ;)

If your forum is small and you don't want to irritate members and guests start small. Add small ads like Adlinks, 120x120 ad in places like under navigation, above quick reply, adlinks inline - like here on DP.

I would just explain members why I want to put ads on forums. Make them comment on the ad placement, whether they irritate them or not, how would they like ads being put on forums.

Most will say, 'We don't want any ads'. So remember, in some cases there is no pure democracy. Just absolutism.

They will adjust as the time goes. Just make sure there is a good reason why they should stay (e.g. great content, support, moderation, contests, bonuses and so on).

You can also set up an Advert-free usergroup. Make members have a choice to donate forums, so those who donate will be promoted to the Ad-free Usergroup and won't see any ads for the next month/quarter/year, etc.

Well, what's your plan? Is your plan to build up quality content & continue to grow and not let adsense get in the way of anything? I'm not sure how you think and how you work, but if you're talking about making money off of adsense and the forum so early in its growth, then I'd recommend - working and continue to strive off your forums success. And when the time is right you implement the ads...

Don't ask the users if you can add the advertisements, just do it, because it's your site - it's not like you're implementing popups that are so intrusive to the users.

That's a good idea, Allen. It could cost from anywhere to $5 - $10.

Looks like you've built yourself an established forum. There is no reason why you shouldn't add Google AdSense or any other kind of ads on it.
