Adsence Ads Determined by Backinks!

Discussion in 'AdSense' started by reapr, Jan 22, 2007.

About a year ago I would find that backlinks did not determine the ads on my my site it was page content. I am starting to see backlinks determine the type of ads that display.

The reason I say this is I had to dump a merchant due to lack of support so I place my ol' site back online and I still see ads based on the old merchants products. Any one else experience this?

I do not really think it is determined by backlinks

The adsense bot won't usually crawl the page but every couple weeks after the first time. That's probably why you're getting old ads.

Also it is possible the merchant has site-targeted you since you dropped them.

I put my old site on about 6 hours before I posted here. Even now it is still showing the old ads and it is a PR4 domain.

Perhaps they are the only ads it can find to display on your site. Its got nothing to do with backlinks.

This is the answer to your question.

You will have to wait for Google mediabot to recrawl the site. Could take a couple weeks.

Thanks for your reply. I am not saying that a pr4 site is braging as anyone with minimal seo knowledge can get that in less than a few months if timing is right. I woould have suspected that pr4 site would have been crawled much more sooner.

This may explain why a few of my other sites are showing ads that just don't quite fit in espeacially in the last 3-4 months.

I guess I was spoiled by seeing adds change in under 24 hours on a lower pr site!!!

It is determined by the theme of the content on the page, however, I guess if you have a really strong backlink the ad shown might be about the subject of the anchor text. This unlikely but might happen.

I would add that PR and Adsense are in no way related. Your sites PR plays no part in Adsense nor your financial earnings capability or the speed in which your site is crawled.

It is also why there are two seperate crawl bots

    googlebot

    mediabot

They each operate from within their own algorithms.

    Hope this helps.

I would say that the ads are determined by all the factors that are also used to rank sites in the search results.

If you read the AdSense patent, you'll see that links from the page and links to the page can play a part in determining which ads to serve, as well as the search queries that lead users to a page. On-page factors, the URL of the page, and the general theme of the site are more important, but the other parts definitely come into play. That's why SEO on your pages is important, both to get your pages ranked well in the search engines but also to improve your ad targeting.

Small plug: buy my book (see my sig) and you get a free detailed analysis of the AdSense patent as a bonus....

Its not because of backlink its because adsense using old cachae and it will take at leasts 2 to 3 days upto a week to crawl your new content and show related ads.
