    Google offers image ads in a limited number or formats. If you have seen an image next to a text ad then the site owner designed it that way and provides the image himself.

    Im trying hard looking into my FireFox's cache for the site url but am unable to get it now.

    There was this site I came across which had google ads - but it had small images above each text. The way it looked - the images was within the google ads box.

    That would be in violation of the Terms. You can add images near your ads, but there must be a visible boreder and the images cannot be too close to the texts of the ads.

    You dont want to do that without getting Google's permission on the format first. Typically as stated in a previous post the image should have a border around as not to confuse the website visitor.

    I think he is talking about neither image ads nor images above ads, but about themed units ( See the two ads at the bottom of the page.)

    No, Im not talking abt themed units and Im not referring to the image-only ads mentioned in google formats.
    There actually were small images (max 100 x 100 I think) just above the google-text - but within the box.

    BTW, if a domain has rights to get adsense in xml then, he could it display it however he wants right ? But Im sure such sites wouldnt have the text Google Ads displayed !

    Adsense offers image ads in some formats but text ads seems to be working better.. well that's what I've experienced

    hi anj,

    it is possible to put images over your ad block using a tag like this in the image tag:

    <IMG alt="Adsense" src="http://www.adsenseforums.net/images/puzzle.gif" width="32" height="32" border="0" [COLOR="Red"]style="position: relative; left: 5px;"[/COLOR]/>

    Code (markup):
    have a look at my adsense site to see how it is done. if you increased the number 5px to something bigger then you would have definite overlap...and as the others have said,,,its against the TOS. what i have done is just move things a bit closer.
