ads showing? have to see one of mine yet.

    I have joined this network last week as I think it is a very cool idea. I setup my site and code and my weight is 56,000 - not bad I thought.

    so I went on some sites to see if my ads will show. I clicked and reloaded many many times and no single ad of mine showed. I thought it was a bit odd, but given the number of ads I thought it was a fluke....

    still, some of the ads were showing ALL the time, over and over. I wrote a little script to count which of the ads get shown most. the winner:

    http://www.ccapplication.com/ --> 213 times of 1000 ads shown on a 5 ad page!!!
    SEMrush
    my ads: ZERO

    so my question is: what kind of weight do I have to have to have my ad shown?

    thanx in advance.... ssl

    I checked the cache file for one of my sites, and one of your ads are in it, so I know your ads are being served up.

    It doesn't show anywhere close to 20%.

    With the number of sites well over 100, and the limit of the number of links in the ad_network.txt file or whatever it's called, it's possible that any given ad is not showing on a majority of the sites at a specific time... correct?

    The weight on one of my sites is higher than that, and I just spent ten minutes clicking refresh and never saw a single one of my ads. But I know it does generate backlinks. It's just a really big network and there are a ton of sites.

    But you're right, there are a small number of ads that appear to comprise a disproportionate percentage of what's shown.

    The growing size of the network (1000+ sites) and Shawn's revision of the caching and ad serving functions (400 ads in cache, added to every 15 mins) will mean this 'apparent' predominance of certain ads will be significantly reduced.

    Remember that you will roughly get back the number of links you give out spread out over 100's of sites so your own ads may be very hard to find. The beta msn search seems to be picking up the ad backlinks much quicker than Yahoo at present so it would be worthwhile checking there.
