Ads placement suggestion

    Hi!

I had just put online this webtool some days ago:

    File Extension Seeker

It's a search engine for websites that lists extensions & corresponding filetype; so, one site to query them all (well, the most important ones)! :)
Seems to be going fairy well; search engines bots are harvesting it (thanks mod_rewrite!) and visitors start coming.

I tried to keep it simple and streamlined.
I had a small GoogleAds vertical banner on the left column, initially, but changed to a top banner. Just added a right column on the results pages, where I think to put some sponsors / links.

Got any idea to try / improve?

    Thanks,
    Bye!

Ad placement is perfectly fine, just center your content or add a right side bar.

    I don't dislike left-alignment, but I will surely try & experiment a bit.
    Thanks for the suggestion!

mate i dont have much of experience myself so i am not sure my advice will be useful or what

    but still

as far as i know the best possitions to place adds are
-top left side bar (top 5 inches)
-bottom right side bar (corner 5 X2 inches)
-colour scheme also make huge difference

thats what i have read mate

I would move the adsense ad into the lower area of your content section .. and maybe switch to a smaller unit.

I agree. This would reduce the white space on the right side, balancing out your page.

i dont agree, i think you will have a better CTR with a Big 336 x 280 adsense block, in the Left of Extention, file type.. take those to right and put the adsense block in the left.

In facts that was the format that I had initially. I'm experimenting a bit, so I'll try to see what perform / look better.

    (I use firefox)

    My review:
To be honest, I looked at the site right away, browsed for a few seconds, and closed it. I went back to this thread and realized you were asking about Google ads placement, which I totally didn't even notice ads on the site.

I browsed your site for 15-40 seconds without noticing ads, you should throw them on the top or buy a template.

I would optimize your adsense, since you are allowed to use more than just 2 and I would center load your site. A brief explaination on why, and how it works would be bad either for newbies. other than that looks ok to me

OK, now I'm pretty satisfied - for the moment, at least :) - with the aesthetic and apparently the perormance. Will keep the stats checked for a while and see how it goes.

Thanks again to all for all the tips,
    Bye!
