Part of the issue with the low payouts is because of the type of ads showing on your pages. They are very low paying to begin with... like the Helium ad and the get paid to blog ads. Keep adding more content and the ads will start to adjust to the content of your site. You can also try targeting some better paying keywords as well. But above all... traffic, traffic, traffic.

Work on keywords for site. Find some higher paying ones and make more content for those keywords. Try moving ads around to see if you can increase click rate. 1 to 2 clicks for 500 impressions is low.

I heard that the more traffic you get, the less google will pay you for per click. Is that true?

Try to block MFA sites by adding them in competitive filters.

MFA sites = Made for Adsense sites. Some of those sites on your site may be using the concept of Adsense Arbitrage. Use the competitive filter present in your Adsense account in order to block those sites.

Not only Keywords, but also take into consideration Google's Smart Pricing Policy. Some keywords may fetch other sites $2-$3 each, and others just pennies. Noone knows how it works, but there are some tactics you can use. Do some research on this, and then go on editing your page. :D
