I read a few people say switching to a left sidebar yields more clicks over the right, has anyone experienced this?
I have a 160x600 skyscraper on my left panel but it isn't generating any clicks. Now I am trying a 120x600 vertical ad on the right, LOL. So far, my best placement is 728x90 horizonal banner right at the bottom of my articles.
Google even recommends left sidebar themselves in their heatmaps. It works quite well for me, actually better than a rectangle immediately below the page title.
Most people are used to sidebars being on the right, this could make them overlook it. If a sidebar is on the left its something they are not used to, or something their not expecting which naturally will cause an interest, which in turn could lead to an ad click. Only a theory though....
