Trouble with Adsense? I was just checking out your poll and noticed the message in all your Adsense blocks
I don't see any AdSense on that site...Only the cheeky "Ads by Eric in the upper left" Any screenshots GFC
Look at the top and bottom of that page. Looks like there were ad links at the top and a banner at the bottom. Here's a screen shot from another page in the site.
Yup, checked the source as those squares are just blank for me Certainly looks like a ban to me...I haven't been around but maybe Eric already posted about this and why he has been banned. lol
Maybe its a different pub id to the one on the site: pub-5964030199537728 (Man, you people post fast)
That would be my guess. All just speculation but maybe they are not banning accounts for this type of issue, but are just preventing sites with Google in the domain from displaying the ads. Interesting stuff.
He's not banned Google doesn't allow people that have "Google" in the actual domain and display adsense.... They started this crack down a little bit ago.
See what I miss when I don't log on....Is there an unnofficial list? Does it extend to "AdSense", "AdWords", etc?
Maybe they are still making their rounds. I see a few other sites with google in the domain that are still displaying ads. (http://www.googlerankings.com/ for example)
I thought I remembered Eric saying something about that as well...for the life of me can't find the thread on the topic.
As I posted last month, Google is cracking down on sites that use its trademarks (not just "Google", but "AdSense", "AdWords", etc.) in their domain names and refusing to display AdSense ads on those sites. And yes, MakeEasyMoneyWithGoogle.com was affected. And still is. I have faxed in a permission request, but so far the answer's been "no", though I'm waiting to hear back on my re-request. But it's not looking too good, which means that I'll probably be switching over to a different domain (memwg.com) in order to start displaying AdSense ads again. The ads on that particular site don't make me a lot of money, so it's not a big deal to me, but I feel obliged to display ads on it since the book's all about AdSense! In the meantime, I cooked up my own AdSense-like ads to display in some spots. But I wasn't seeing those issues you brought up because I'm using Firefox 1.5 and I forgot to test things in different browsers after they turned off the ad support for that domain. So I need to fix that, I guess by cooking up some more "Ads by Eric".... Thanks for letting me know.
And they work fine on my other sites. It's only the one site with "Google" in its name that is affected. Our undying gratitude?
Yeah, as a lark I thought I'd promote the various AdSense e-books and tools that are available via ClickBank. What's funny, though, is that I've actually sold copies of Joel Comm's book because of ads! Hilarious. If this keeps up, I may just leave the AdSense ads off of that site so I don't have to go through the pain of switching (redirecting isn't really a big deal, but my blog's Technorati rank would surely suffer). I guess I could just point my readers to the Invisible Fence Guide for example uses of the ads. It bugs me, though, not to be able to show AdSense ads on that particular site, so maybe I'll bite the bullet. As I write this, Google's gotten back to me on the trademark issue and it's a definite no-go, so I'll have to decide one way or the other now. I'll let the "Ads by Eric" run for a few weeks more, I'm too busy to make the switch right now anyhow. It makes me wonder, however, if they'll expand the scope of their net to include more than just domain names. I guess we'll wait and see. It's a fine line, companies have to actively protect their trademarks in order to maintain their status as trademarks, so if Google isn't seen as being aggressive in this matter then they could lose the trademarks. (This is why, incidentally, you'll see ads from companies like Xerox in writer's magazines reminding authors not to use their trademarks as verbs and such... it's what they have to do to protect valuable pieces of intellectual property.)
