I have been trying to place adsense on my website (http://eacnews.net/lidija-weekly-food-for-thought/) as an example page but no ads appear.

I first of all used a plugin then I placed the coding directly onto the site still no joy any advice please as this will be my only source for monetizing the site.

    any help gratefully accepted

I'm seeing ads. Either there are no ads for your geo region (but you're in the same part of England as me) or you're blocking them somehow. Or just needed to wait longer for them to show (they don't appear instantly).

Anyway, sort out your theme and ad layout as the ad is overlaying the sidebar on the right a bit. Not good.

Thanks Ryan for trying to help. That is what I wanted to check to make sure any ads were not causing problems. I have tried on another computer and see what you mean I think that is easily solved.
Again thanks for your help it is appreciated

No ads for your geographic region. See above - the OP can see it from another computer.

Both the latest Firefox and IE fail to show AdSense from time to time. I don't know if it's intentional or not. Especially IE.

I'm on the East Coast of the USA and seeing them appear just fine. I'd ditch the link ad as they decrease the CPC and need two clicks to earn you money not one as with the adsense ad blocks. I'd also use "Text/image" ads throughout as adsense states they pay 36% more on average. Make the titles stand out more using the same blue as that header text or the maroon in the sidebar, as the titles are too well blended. Make the adsense url's AAAAAA to make it less visible. Also put the big block ad above the fold and move it to the right or the left and wrap the text to the side of it.
That should up the clicks as well.
