So I just checked my stats and noticed that my ads suddenly stopped running yesterday (Monday). On Sunday I had several hundred clicks. I checked the keywords page and while last week all of my quality scores were 8 or 9/10 now they're all 1/10 and none of my ads are showing. It's saying that the landing page relevance and performance have no problem but the landing page itself is poor. I have no idea what is going on. This site has been up for almost a year with no major changes and no problem I have changed nothing in the last week. Any thoughts on why this would be happening?
OK - basically: 1) you've been google slapped 2) this is probably because you're an affiliate, and in the most basic, least time consuming way of explaining it Google doesn't like affiliates on adwords very much 3) your site is probably very thin on unique, useful content 4) do a search for arbitrage
Lovely. So...how long does it take to get out of the gutter? I've been planning a major re-design anyway including the addition of a blog because while the site has a good level of content (it's 50+ pages) it's pretty static so I wanted new content to be added on a regular basis. Once that starts is there a way to get my account back in working order or am I pretty much just screwed? Also, I'd rather have a static landing page since the blog is not the main purpose of the site but is it better to have the blog be the landing page? Thanks for your help.
no probs. You're prob best off starting with a whole new url - once google decides against you it's pretty hard to change. It's not just the level of content etc somehow (don't know exactly how) Gogle decides what the purpose of your site is, if it 'thinks' your site is to drive people to ads then it's going to happen, but if it doesn't then you'll be ok. Essentially a high proportion of content Vs ads, placing ads below the fold etc will all add up. I'd say you're always best having the static landing page rather than the blog as the landing page - good luck!
I agree that you should 'start over' with a new url. Google takes a long time, if ever, to give you a second chance. That doesn't mean you can't keep all of the content you have. I would take a close look at it to make sure there aren't too many ads or affiliate links. Then, make necessary changes, and mix it up a bit. Good luck!
