Ads have become irrelevant again

Bah .. just as I thought Google had made the ads more relevant, they revert back to dishing out the same ads they served before.... damn it, my CTR and eCPM has halved! :(

Pete, maybe if you post your url people can take a look and see if there are any obvious problems/improvements.

WEll it's tricky with blogs. I've had one on sci-fi films up for the last 3 weeks or so, but it's only now (as in, two days ago) started getting relelvant ads. It seems the relevance of your ads is directly connected to when Googlebot spiders your site and records it in the index.

Im way too paranoid for that unfortunately. It just seems odd.. the page is about BLUE and RED, but mainly BLUE... there's no RED in the title and all my H1's are BLUES... the other week I saw the relevance sky-rocket and it was showing mainly BLUE adverts compared to mainly RED before, but now it's mainly RED ones again if you see what I mean, and since my visitors are mainly coming for BLUE.. well.... there's my problem! :)

The only way I can think of is to remove mostly all of the RED content, but I don't really want to do that.. I'd rather Google did what they did last week and realise my page is mostly about BLUE and serve up most of my ads relating to BLUE.

Ohh I'm feeling blueeeeeeeeeeeeeeee today....

Are the links/traffic arriving to your site about BLUE?
Inbound blue links and good serps for blue may help.

That's interesting. Are you suggesting Google may consider off-page factors for serving up ads? 'Cos they could easy grab the terms my visitors are using to get to my page I guess.. perhaps that's part of their equasion then as a fair number of visitors were arriving through RED today... thing is in the AdLinks ad it's showing BLUE which I'd much prefer showed in the large rectangles but they're only showing mostly red now! Uhh. I have alsorts of back-links and varying anchor text. I'm not in the serps for Google yet but I'm doing well in MSN and Yahoo have started to take note recently - still in the sandbox for Google at about month 4 I think..... I'll just wait it out. I get very eager to change my pages, titles and things when I see irrelevant ads, but they always come back like today. I think I'll leave my site well alone for a while.

I believe so, I see results affected by the way a visitor enters the page as much as whats on it.

That's very clever, and I suppose well done Google.. maybe.... perhaps people coming through BLUE are just very unlikely to click the BLUE adverts because they're faced with those types of adverts constantly, where as my RED visitors are less savvy or something.. and 'cos my RED visitors have gone away for a while, until my rankings go back up for my RED terms, this is what I'll have to put up with. Dangit.
