Boy I wish I still had my stock from my Authorware, Inc days :)

I was around for the Macromind, Paracomp, Authorware merger into Macromedia.

Noooooo... is this a good thing?
Adobe and macromedia are the ony 'real' players out there..
This could either be a very good thing, or very bad.

Adobe headquarters is awesome but I can't help but think how bummed I'd be to have to move from SF to San Jose. (no offense to San Jose intended)

This merger has been speculated about for years. The resulting product line should be impressive and nicely integrated somewhere down the line. No way Adobe lets Dreamweaver or Flash slide although Fireworks will probably fall off.

I think they are a pretty good fit together since neither company has a product that has a serious marketplace rival in the other. i.e. Dreamweaver dominates Go Live, PhotoShop dominates Fireworks, and the Adobe competetor to Flash never really got off the ground from what I can tell.

This was my initial fear. I use Photoshop a lot but I have gotten so used to Fireworks for the quick fix of things.

Only time will tell how everything is incorporated.

I find Macromedia products are better designed (in the little details). Flash has an unbelievable UI

The only thing that has prevented both of these companies from doing WHATEVER they want was each other...That barrier is gone.

Although, looking at the default HTML templates that Adobe Photoshop generates, one has slight concerns about thenm playing about with DreamWeaver. That and Adobe's habit of making once easy programmes that little but more obtuse to use than they were... :D

it'll be worth watching what comes out of this, with out a doubt.
Dio, could it be that the dreamweaver guys might get some input into what photoshop generates ?

Hopefully. Just the ability to style them up a bit better than the defaults would be a start. :)

I think this will turn out to be good in the long run. Adobe should be able to do some amazing things with the technology they'll be combining.

I hope that the macromedia side get enough input.. If you have used Dreamweaver, Flash you will be wishing that many things transfer TO adobe rather than the other way round

Yeah, I use Dreamweaver a lot. I used Go Live for awhile, but I just like the Dreamweaver UI so much better.

Great news! Adobe is here to set a new standard, they will combine .swf, .pdf, .eps and .ai, into one new file format.
A file that everybody can read, write and publish, it will contain all information for all fields of expertise like prepress, internet, drawings, desktop publishing and more!

Good point, that is exactly it.. now I wonder about the SEO of that new file format..
Flash is taking a beating of late due to not being found in the SEs anymore.. It used to be easier to have a visible flash site.
