Hey guys, I was just wondering can Photoshop CS4 and Illustrator CS4 work on Intel Core 2 Duo with 2 Ghz and 4 GB of RAM? I've read that PS requires 1.8 Ghz and IL requires 2.0 Ghz, so I'm wondering will Core 2 Duo be with that speed be enough for it? What are your experiences with CPU speed and these programs? What about CS5 requirement's? You know anything about it? I'm asking this because this is my laptop and I'm wondering do I have to buy a new one in order to run CS5 on it?
buddy im running cs4 photoshop on 2.8mhz pentium 4, 1gb ram. works fine under windows 7, and xp previously. Works wonderfully if i use my 2gb flash usb as readyboost memory. Before that ive run cs4 photoshop on a pentium 2 300mhz 328mb ram windows xp. no problems, obviously alittle slow. (300mhz lol, thats 10% of a 3ghz processor, and probably 5% of a duo processor). I have a question, does anyone have experience on running cs4 photoshop on a notebook/notepad? would love that.
@mentalhead: it should work fine, because i have tested PS 4 on 1,6 GHz, 256 DDR and 64Mb v-card (Nvidia 400MX) and ot worked fine, but started in 40+ seconds.
@tsoprano I'm guessing that you'll need bigger laptop if you want to avoid all vertical scrolling or external VGA monitor could be a good solution. I still haven't tried PS on laptop but I'll give you some feedback on it once I do so.
I have tried on my friend's computer :Intel cpu (506 socket 775,single core) 2.66G with 1G Ram, it can run cs4 on win 7 x64. But for flash creation/works , there seems a little lag for the "Flash cs4 pro" with source file size (.fla) over 3.5xMb when exporting the swf file output. Not so very smooth as noted but minor issue only. Suggest to have computer box with 2G ram or more.
I've used CS4 on a 1.8 GHz, 1 GB RAM, dual core, and it worked fine. Now I run it on a 2.4 GHz, 4 GB RAM and Dual Core, and it works flawlessly, but then again i've met the specks on my new additions. If you're not doing more than a few things at a time while you're using photoshop/illustrator, then you should be perfectly fine.
I had Photoshop CS4 on a PC with 2gb of ram and a 2.2GHz processor - and it was painfully slow. So slow in fact that I had to revert to CS3 for a while because it was totally impeding my workflow.
Basic requirement for Photoshop CS4 *1.8GHz or faster processor *XP with Service Pack 2 (Service Pack 3 recommended) or Windows Vista® Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise with Service Pack 1 (certified for 32-bit Windows XP and 32-bit and 64-bit Windows Vista) *512MB of RAM (1GB recommended) *QuickTime 7.2 software required for multimedia features
I agree with you you milo_pl. I have AMD 5000+ x2 64bit and 2 GB's of ram and I still have to wait when I want to save or perform some effect on A4, A3 size poster.
