Now's a good time to buy more RAM, if your PC isn't too old to upgrade. You can get 1GB for $50.

Unfortunately, as you can see here http://www.multimonitorinformation.com/softwarereviews/photoshop-cs3/ CS3 doesn't support multiple monitors as well as CS2 does.
I'm still using CS3 but that is a problem!

Hmm, that's annoying. I think Adobe has been a little slack with multiple monitor support really - it took them a while for Premiere to work well on two monitors.

BTW, I've been using Premiere CS3 beta - it has a few new features but nothing ground-breaking. Time remapping is great. Inclusion of Encore DVD is overdue. Soundbooth will disappoint audio gurus but it's easier for noobs. Overall: Nice enough upgrade but non-essential for most users.

Anybody who does not want to go to jail. The jail time can be upwards of 10-15 years for software piracy last time I heard. Suddenly $2,000 sounds like a no brainer.

Anyway I expect to get my CS3 copy in the mail tomorrow or Tuesday at the latest. I am definitely looking forward to the new features! :)

whoa CS2 can support more than 1 monitor?? so if I can figure out how to connect my laptop to desktop..

does this mean you can work on 2 images at a time?
and yes i've only ever installed a demo of cs2 from a magazine..I'm going to try and buy CS2 asap.

I finally DL'd the trial and it's great.

from a photographers perspective, the new RAW tool give you leaps and bounds more control over that of CS2.

I still haven't done the B&W thing yet though

I must have nabbed the beta version then

I think the web sit says that the trial version will be mad available ~ 6weeks after the original release date...I do not know what day that was.
    *I think*

    STD = PS alone
EXT = PS, + additional applications (bundled)

I got the beta a few months ago. After playing with it for quite a while, I still prefer CS2 to CS3. Personally, I wouldn't buy it. It just isn't that much better. If you are purchasing for the first time, then CS3 is probably going to be fine, but I can't see throwing down $200 for an upgrade that really doesn't do anything more than the previous version.

CS3 eats up memory way more than CS2. The computer I have it on isn't a super computer, but I would expect a less laggy output from a 2.8HT with 2Gb of Ram. Also, I like the layout that CS2 has as it is comparable to most other versions before it. The CS3 layout is completely different and even after a lot of using it, it still doesn't feel right.

The biggest benefit I find is in its RAW image handling, otherwise I prefer CS2 to CS3.
