Just started using the free Akeeba Admintools...must say...makes updating my Joomla sites to the latest version a snap. Also streamlines the folder permissions. One thing I noticed it it works great if using it on a site you installed via their backup tool. If using it after a manual install you will need to add your ftp info when updating your site.
