has anyone integrated this in his directory? how can this be done on phpLD ? someone asks on their forum how can this be called in TPL files but no concrete answer, wanted to ask on phpLD forums but nobody answers there anymore so this is the only place I could ask. Thanks in advance!
I am going to go look at your post now and see what you were asking. I have not heard of ad logger before.
http://www.adlogger.com - that says it all I think, it's just not working for me. if you hit View Source it's there, but not recording anything. Thanks!
and what would be so funny about that? I have a high CTR and almost 1000 visitors/day on... a directory which brings me $25 daily only from adsense. better safe than sorry
So please be more detailed when you write a post. You want to prevent your Google ads, not a directory. I use other software for tracking and preventing AS. And it also works on PhpLD though AS doesn't bring me $25 daily on none of my directories. But have other sites with 5k and 10k uniqes daily and hundreds of AS clicks and I agree - it's better to be safe. But tell you one, there is no perfect solution for this...
I see in step 7 of the instructions it says: So it sounds like you need to: 1) Follow the installation instructions as normal. 2) Place this code in footer.tpl and probably wrap lieral tags around it {l}{/l}
{literal} code {/literal} not that {l}{/l} won't work, it might, but the {l}{/l} is for language and interpretations.
well.. I think I got it working, not sure, I mean.. it works.. but doesn't seems to be recording everything. anyway.. at least I see some stats and on what pages users click. for example, submit.php is the most clicked so far, and I thought I'm not getting any click from there since it is visited mostly by webmasters. really nice tool. Thanks for your help David and An0n
You are quite welcome, and I would love to know your experience with the tool as well. I wonder if it is possible that it is not getting clicks in all browsers?
as I see so far in the results it looks like all clickers use IE. only one using Mac Os, hard for me to believe that none of them used Firefox. I also read on their forums that there are some problems with browsers. I myself only needed this to know which pages are most clicked and make a strategy for my next website. anyway David, would be great to see this type of logger incorporated with the next version of phpLD, since in this script AdSense is very easy to integrate. or even a admin based interface to add adsense on pages. I could help Boby on that since we're from the same town and... to be honest, I'm pretty good at integrating adsense. PM me (or contact on Y!) if you want to see more sites with excellent adsense integration on them. Thanks again both for your help.
I actually made my own logger a long time ago that does about everything this one does. The main problem I found was database size. If you log every user, over time the database gets quite large. Nonetheless, I will give this some thought.
after two days of logging, adlogger's database now has about 17 Kb. anyway... I guess you can reset the stats every three months or something like this. it would be great if you could add ads between the categories, if, let's say you have categories on two rows would look great to have 4 rows of categories, one adsense unit of 468x60 and then the rest of categories.or to be able to insert adunits between links on pages...all these configurable in admin panel. VBulletin I think has a option like this, SMF surely has, you configure to show ads after X posts... (for SMF it's a Mod you can download from their page and look into it.)
Thanks for the update. Maybe we don't need to build this application into phpLD if it is easy to install on top of phpLD. Idea noted about ad placement between categories
i've actually made this and its on directorydump. i just have it disabled now. configurable in the admin as mentioned. i do have a client who is using it, but am not sure as to whether or not they would mind if i posted the link or not, so i won't for now. edit: i turned mine back on only 1 page rather than the whole directory. it will be slow because dreamhost is having problems as usual. I have it set for every 4 listings to display. It also works with pagination as well. so anywho...: http://www.directorydump.com/index.php?list=latest
this is exactly what I meant. putting this as a feature of phpLD would make a directory more profitable if you insert between links affiliate programs, adsense or YPN. also this would bring even more sales to the phpLD script even if it's a best seller .
