I was looking at my cache in Yahoo today: http://66.218.71.225/search/cache?p=free+car+insurance+quotes&toggle=1&ei=UTF-8&u=www.clantt.com/carinsurance&w=free+car+insurance+quotes&d=10DE4CCA39&icp=1&.intl=us I noticed that on the right where I have my adlinks, there's a box that asks you to search for adlinks about a certain subject. Has this happened to anyone else? I typed in People into that box and sure enough, ads based on People came up (to search for people using ussearch.com and the like). My pub ID was also in the URL, so credit would have been passed based on click through.
I saw a thread about this yesterday (on WMW??). Also when Google were testing the Adlinks in beta the search box was on the bottom of all of the link listings. I think it just comes up when it can't figure out what to show for the page. Ross
This is a dead thread but I'm also having this problem. The Link Unit sometimes displays a search box instead of the links. Anyone else having this problem or know of a solution? I assume it is because it can't figure out what to display or what the page is about (though it does display the Text Links so it must know what the page is about). I've tried all sizes of the vertical Link Units and get the same problem. Is there a workaround, like placing text or keywords that might help it determine what the page is about?
This is the Ad Links version of a PSA. If they cannot get relevant usable keywords, there is a stop word issue, or if it hasn't been spidered by the bot yet, you will get the search box instead of keywords.
Jenstar is correct -- I have one website with a lot of content but NO ads ever -- nothing is relevant My link units offer the same search box, which I actually have received a click from. Write better content, or just wait!
