I was surfing around the web looking at forums I have never visited before as they were focused on another foriegn country that I am not familiar with and I wanted to explore and learn more about it. What I found on the forums was the adlinks bar and I clicked on the first one which was suppose to show me ads about this countries movies. After I clicked it, I got a blank page saying they dont have ads for this topic and it gave me that space to enter the topic I want to view ads on. So my question is, why would google have an ADLINK LINK to an empty category when they dont have ads? That would be a waste of a click sort to speak. What are your thoughts?
I've seen that once or twice before. It's strange, but I don't think there's anything you can do as a webmaster. I agree... click on a link to see ads and you get a page saying, "how about ads on a different topic" and you have to click again.
It's probably something simple like server variations (I'm pretty sure Google does not run AdSense on a single server.. hehe), so maybe the ones that did serve AdSense ads had ads, but the one that actually shows the list didn't have them any longer. Changes (like maybe the ad was removed or hit it's daily budget) aren't going to be instantaneous across all servers.
Adlinks are a bit weird... Also it could be due to content filtering by the publisher. You can content filter out end link ends, but you can't filter out topics.. So you could filter out ever ad in a particular topic, but the topic would show up in the link ad.
