Q? Adgroup CTR more important than individual keyword CTR?

    Hi Folks

One of my adgroups has a CTR of 0.60% for all its keywords, with varying click through rates from 0 to 100% for each individual keyword within the adgroup.

Which is important for keeping my costs down? The CTR of the adgroup as a whole? or that of the individual keywords? Because if it's the first option, then I should be deleting the keywords that have very low click through rates.

Your expert opinions would be much appreciated :p

    Thanks

    Hi Snow Predator,

If your keywords have had a low CTR over a long period of time (3 months +) then it would be worthwhile to delete those keywords, although at the same time you have to be careful as that keyword may generate a conversion for you one day...

Depending on the industry I only ever remove a keyword that has a CTR of 0.00% The total CTR can effect the whole of that Campaign so it is good practice to clean up your account. This approach is more for the long term while focusing on an individual keyword's CTR is more for saving on the short term.
