Hi, I have just placed an adsense for search in one of my clients sites. When I look in the adsense advanced reports section I see at the bottom of the page: "Revenue from AdSense for search may be offset at the end of the month by costs associated with performing searches." Does anyone know how much I am charged for each search? Does anyone make any real money from adsense for search? Thanks in advance
I've never noticed that.. interesting. I was never able to make money with adsense for search.. I replaced my searchbox with some adlinks and the income went up a lot, along with CTR.
As far as I can tell, I have never been charged anything for AdSense for search on the site on which I use it. That site also has AdSense and the AdSense revenue is significantly higher than search revenue. The only reason I have AdSense for search on that site is that I have not created my own search engine for it. If I had, I would not use it. Your results may be entirely different. And, as some say, a penny here and a pennery there is better than none at all.
Yes it seems the revenue from the search is very low compared to actuall ads. I know its cheeky, but I implemented the search for one of my clients sites, I create a lot of sites and thought eventually the money will add up. I was just worried that there may come a time when with so many searches this could actually cost me to have the searches. Thanks for the replies
I've yet to have anything subtracted from my AdSense for search usage. And the AdSense help does say they'll never charge you more than you make, BTW. I think it's mainly there for sites that direct a lot of traffic through it, on the theory that it takes away from traffic going directly through Google.com (where they keep all the ad revenue).
I think they'll only start changing only when there's an excessive number of searches via your search bar. Are you getting a lot of searches? Like, in the thousands a day? If not, I wouldn't worry about it.
