Hey lads, Got a quick and short question for you all. Recently my website got added to Google News. What can I expect in terms of traffic? Is it any good? Are there ways to optimize for Google news? Cheers Kevin
There are few items selected by Google News for its front page. There is a local news option which might increase visibility of whatever local items you report. I don't know how you might optimize for Google News, other than trying to provide complete information in each article so the bot can understand who what when where why. If you mention "the lakes district" it would help if you mention "around Mapletown" so the bots have more specific info. If your newsy site mentions the state where it is (maybe in the footer you say "This is the web site of the Eagle Gazette, Oakville, IL" -- that would also help us web searchers who drop in and can't figure out where your paper is at). If you do get a lot of traffic, there are common optimizations. Drop a fast cache in front of the web server, such as Varnish, to reduce your server's load. Try to configure your images so they can be served quickly as files, rather than requiring that PHP resize them each time. You can find such high-traffic tips when you look for them.
This is an absolute false statement. There are tens of thousands of webmasters that can prove this statement wrong wrong wrong. Do a google search on the topic and you will find many articles that state just the opposite. I can attest from my personal experience. Google News is an unbelievable source of traffic, however, it is not for the lazy. If you are a Google News approved publisher and are adding fresh content to your site, you will receive traffic. There are many tricks that webmasters use once they are approved to get huge amounts of traffic flowing everyday. manofwar, do you have a Google News approved site? If so, I can give you some tips and tell you why you are not getting the traffic that you should. If you don't have a Google News approved site, then I do not understand how you could comment on the topic, when all evidence points to the contrary of your claim.
really! google news can drive a lot of traffic on the contrary. how much traffic it will drive will depend on your niche and targeted keyword but for the right keyword, it can drive some good traffic for a while
hello! i just want to ask..how long does it take for google news to review your website..and finally be in inclusion to their program? I applied it 4 days ago..still no response...of course there's a reply after the submission..but saying to reply if the site meets the tech requirements.. i did..it's been 3 days but no response from google... how long does it take?? please reply..thanks!
It is not sure. If your article is excellent and keywords is suitable, google news will review you soon, maybe a few hours. On the contrary, it will never review. That's what I think about.
aww... can you help me? please check my newly created website... http://recentissuetoday.com , well... i appreciate if you could pinpoint my mistakes... and you can tell me some guidelines... aww.. but how long is the normal reviewing time of google news? considering they are reviewing many applicants... how could I say I got the chance? please help.. thanks..
